The RV Lifestyle

 The RV lifestyle

Easy on the Pocket - You shouldn’t have to spend a lot of money on something called free time.

Owning an RV makes economic sense. You are able to travel while spending significantly less. You have unlimited flexibility, even on a limited budget.

Many RV models allow a family of four to save up to 74 percent on vacation costs over other forms of travel. That’s a calculation that takes into account RV ownership costs, including payments, insurance, maintenance, tires, tax breaks, registration and depreciation.

Want to take your family of four to Orlando for a week? Traveling in a typical family motorhome will cost you 53 percent less than flying, renting a car, staying in a hotel and eating out. A trip to the Grand Canyon in a folding camping trailer will cost 70 percent less than driving and using hotels and restaurants.

Not only do other forms of travel cost more, the outlay typically covers only one vacation. Not so with an RV. It’s ready to go again whenever you are.

It all adds up. RVing gives you the most for your vacation dollars.

Retire in Style - Follow the sun. For months at a time.

Savor travel’s pleasures. Make new friends, or connect with old ones. Visit family. As our age increases, so, too, do our opportunities to experience all that RVing has to offer. Today’s seniors are zestfully on the go, and RVs can take them wherever their hearts desire.

Thousands are part-time RV users, weekend and vacation travelers or seasonal “snowbirds." Thousands more – some estimates go as high as a million – live full time in their RVs.

Seniors find today’s RVs make travel and camping comfortable and extremely accommodating, even for those with physical restrictions. RV travelers enjoy  home comforts like queen-sized beds and central air and heat. Many of these “condos-on-wheels” have slideout rooms that expand their interior space by about one-third at the push of a button. On-board closets and storage space eliminate the need to pack, unpack and carry bulky suitcases. Fully equipped kitchens help older RVers follow special diets and vacation more economically by avoiding fast-food eateries and high-priced restaurants.

RV travel fosters a sense of community, offering mature travelers a valuable network of friends who share common interests. Especially popular among seniors are camping clubs, which provide an active social network on the road. Camping clubs hold annual conventions, regional rallies, campouts and other events to bring RVer’s together.

The Healthy Choice - RV travelers do more than just hit the road in their vehicles. RVing families get outside and walk, bike, jog, rollerblade and hike—whether it’s down small-town streets, over miles of trails, or through landscaped campgrounds.

According to a Campfire Canvass survey taken by Dr. Robert Hitlin, president of Robert Hitlin Research Associates, Inc., 70% of RVers say they walk more when on RV trips than when they are at home. Not surprising. RVers are sociable people who walk throughout the campground to meet their “neighbors” and talk about the newest vehicle innovations. RVers also say they specifically travel by RV to participate in outdoor activities like hiking and nature walks. The most recent Campfire Canvass survey shows what activities top the list for RVers -- 53% like to hike/walk, while 32% enjoy biking. However you look at it, RVers are on the move.

But cardiovascular benefits are not the only health dividends to be had. According to an anthropological study of RV enthusiasts, RVers said they were both physically and mentally healthier and happier than their non-RVing counterparts. In fact, a study conducted by a health psychologist at SUNY Oswego found that taking vacations reduces the risk of heart disease, and, that spending quality time with a spouse or significant other actually lowers a person’s blood pressure. RV vacations are great pressure valves to let off the built-up steam of everyday life.

Increasing activity while on the road, escaping stress, recharging batteries, and bonding/reconnecting with family members all help to explain why RVers feel happier and healthier than if they didn’t RV. In addition to enjoying time with the family members they bring along, 60% of RVers report that they make trips to relax and catch up by visiting family and friends.

Reconnect with family - Something happens when families spend time together.

Bonds are built between the generations. Secrets are shared. Discoveries are made.

Sometimes the road to a happy family is an actual road. And sometimes, nothing brings a family closer together than taking them far away.

RVs can offer you and your family one miraculous getaway after another. In this age of stressed-out, overscheduled families, RVing is the perfect way for family members to stay in touch with each other. Nothing quite encourages communication and shared activity like an RV getaway.

Having an RV gives you the ability to reconnect with your family without the logistical hassles. Whenever the opportunity presents itself.

On a whim, you can hop in an RV and spend a weekend with your kids after a hectic week at work. You can bond with your mate. You can make that connection with your teen.

Cool for kids - RVing is nothing if not kid-friendly. Think of all the “extras” sported by recreation vehicles. Comfortable beds. Showers. Your children’s favorite toys, snacks, games, books and videos – all within an arm's reach. A clean bathroom that’s always nearby. And because of these comforts, there are certain things you'll be able to do without: the sound of “Are we there yet?” for instance.

And that’s all before the motor even stops. The nation's 16,000 campgrounds catering to RV travelers feel like small, friendly towns. Your children will find plenty of other children eager to make friends. And in a safe environment, they’ll find amenities and activities galore.
